“I can’t make everyone happy” says Patrick Mahomes as he refused to sign autograph to a child

Patrick Mahomes has enjoyed a busy off-season so far, making plenty of public appearances amid the release of the Netflix documentary ‘Quarterback’. The reigning NFL and SuperBowl MVP has popped up just about everywhere, and often with wife Brittany.

In his latest appearance, the Kansas City Chiefs superstar took part in the American Century Championship, a golf competition, and just as he was about to take a shot, a child in the crowd asked Mahomes to sign his jersey.
“Can’t sign for everyone … can’t make everybody happy,” Mahomes told the boy and his father.
But the father of the child replied by saying: “Yeah, you can … you can just make one kid happy out of a hundred.”

The issue seems to have come about after Mahomes had signed numerous autographs prior to the exchange taking place, according to Fox News.
A report from Fox claimed Mahomes had told other fans: “They told me I can’t do anymore … I was signing stuff, and they said I was taking too long.”

The incident will, no doubt, divide opinion, but it’s not the first time an athlete has had to stop signing autographs during an event. And besides, the quarterback is actually competing at the time he was asked, so it certainly wasn’t as though he didn’t have an excuse, even if it wasn’t the one he chose to use.
As Mahomes details, he is also in an awkward position of having told other fans he can’t sign any more autographs, so it would be unfair to those he had already turned down if he signed for the child who asked on the side of the golf course during the video.
