The Los Angeles Lakers’ intention to sign Broolyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving has been a popular report in recent days, however, that rumor could have even more veracity after LeBron James is training in New York City.
How did we learn about LeBron’s trip to NYC?
In a recent article by Jason Reed for the site Fansided, it is reported that the “King” is in the “Big Apple”, as in recent posts on Instagram, he is seen training and on the back you can read “Summit New York”, which is the place where NBA trainer Chris Brickley, usually works with basketball stars in the off-season.
James doesn’t have much need to cross the country, being in Los Angeles to train there, so it is presumed that he is trying to convince Irving to pair up again to fight for another NBA championship
If we add to that hint the report from ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith that Irving has already had a conversation with James on the subject, then it seems that the topic of seeing the pair that gave the Cleveland Cavaliers the 2016 championship together on the Lakers for the 2022-2023 campaign is already very advanced.
According to multiple press reports, the other team with serious interest in acquiring Kyrie is the New York Knicks, who are also known to pay whatever it takes, however, they do not have a star on their roster capable of attracting the point guard.
It is also known that the Nets and Irving have paused all negotiations for a contract extension and there is also speculation that if the former Boston Celtics player decides not to stay in Brooklyn, the team could look to trade their best player, Kevin Durant, to start a rebuilding process.
