While Shanna has been enjoying her small getaway, her ex, Travis Barker, has been slowly getting better after being diagnosed with pancreatitis which had him sent to emergency at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

The pageant star and Blink-182 drummer tied the knot in 2004, but officially divorced four years later in 2008. They have two children together, Alabama, 16, and Landon Barker, 18.  She has another child, Atiana De La Hoya, from her previous relationship with boxer, Oscar De La Hoya. Travis has a big father figure role in Atiana’s life.

Tried to stick together: After separating two years after their marriage, the two attempted to reconcile, but still divorced in 2008

According to TMZ, Travis’ doctors believe that his pancreatitis – which is an inflammation of the pancreas – was ‘triggered’ by a recent colonoscopy.  Sources tell the site that Barker underwent the colonoscopy exam recently; the procedure is usually performed to look for changes in the large intestine and rectum, such as swollen, irritated tissues, polyps or cancer.

However, in very rare cases, a colonoscopy – which involves a long tube being inserted into the rectum – can cause pancreatitis, a condition that usually requires hospitalization and can last for several days or, in some cases, occur over many years.

Symptoms of the condition – which can also be caused by gallstones or chronic and heavy alcohol use – include upper abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.  Despite having an overwhelming and traumatic experience, the musician has expressed to fans that he is feeling better.

The drummer took to his Instagram to type out a statement to express that he is definitely recovering at a good rate. He also summed up about what happened.  ‘I went in for an endoscopy. Monday feeling great. But after dinner, I developed excruciating pain and have been hospitalized ever since.’

He then explained how he had a polyp removed, which led to damage and resulted in pancreatitis.  ‘I am so very very grateful that with the intensive treatment I am currently much better,’ he wrote out at the end.
